Multiple Teams · Lady Patriots Basketball Starts the New Season

The Lady Patriots basketball team took on the North Side Redskins on Wednesday at home for their season opener. Heritage started the game out very strong on defense. Kendall Knapke(12) led the Patriots with a score of 25-2 for a first quarter destruction of the Redskins. The Pats kept pulling away the rest of the game. Karson Gardner(12) dished out a gorgeous assist to Jessica Franke(11) who drilled a buzzer beating three pointer at halftime keeping all momentum on the Patriots side. The score at halftime was 37-15 in the Patriots favor. As the game ended, the scoreline was 65-39, showing a dominate Patriot effort.

The Patriots were led in scoring by Kendall Knapke(12) who had 20 points, and Lauren Wherry(12) who added 17 points with 12 coming from the three ball. Tattenai Hall(12) added 9 points and an astonishing 15 boards, 8 of which were offensive boards. Hannah Beckman(12) dished out 8 assists during the game. Defensively, Kendall Knapke(12) had 7 steals and 4 blocks, leading her team on the defensive side of the ball.

The girls will take on the Wayne Generals on the road next Tuesday, November 18th at 7:30 p.m.
