Multiple Teams · Wrestling Finishing Unnoticed

What comes to mind when you think Heritage wrestling? I’m sure you probably don’t think that it is one of the most successful sports at Heritage. That’s the problem as Heritage wrestling is nearing an end. This season is just one more season in which the Patriots were overlooked by students throughout the school. Wrestlers such as junior Justyn Hart and senior Kyle Rothgeb had successful seasons and were two of several that got little notice throughout the year.

“I haven’t wrestled since eighth grade year and I forgot how hard it was to meet weight requirements as well as all the workouts,” said Hart.

Hart had a great season his eighth grade year. Rothgeb, who is a senior, has had a great high school career.

“I’ve really improved every year. I started my career struggling as a freshman. Sophomore year I made regionals which was a big deal to me,” said Rothgeb. “Then when I made State that was a huge step forward. This year, I’m hoping to make State.”

Heritage has just wrapped up the conference tournament and will be looking towards sectionals for a select few of the wrestlers. It’s crucial time for these wrestlers as they hope hope to finish strong. As a student body lets try to support them as much as possible.
