Mr. Fox’s and Ms. Sisson’s 4th and 5th period physical education and weight training classes had the opportunity to meet and work with Hall of Fame Coach Arnie Ball and his staff on April 23. Coach Ball took time out from preparing for their first round MIVA tournament to share some thoughts of what it means to be a student from Heritage and the pride he still feels when he comes back home.
Coach Ball’s inspirational talk began by stating that the decision we make as young people will define your future in both a negative and positive way. He continued by stating even though you are from a small school such as Heritage you need to “think outside the cornfield” and take advantages of all opportunities because you will not know where they can take you. He went on to explain that the success that he and his family have enjoyed over the years is a direct result of the decisions they made as young adults and it starts at school.
Students then had an opportunity to work with the coaching staff as they played their matched during class. Ryan Perrotte and JW Kieckofer, assistant coaches for IPFW Men’s Volleyball each supervised play on a court and added insight to technique and strategy as Coach Ball instructed various individuals on the side.
Heritage students would like to than Coach Ball and his staff for the inspirational afternoon as they will continue to “think outside the cornfield” and pursue their dreams
