Senior Branson Dossen received the Sertoma Award on Monday May 4. This was the 60th year for the event. He attended a banquet at the Summit Center with Principal Mr. Wiedenhoeffer. 21 Alive attended the event as well. The Sertoma Award is given to an all-around student athlete; an athlete who displays good character, is involved in the community and school, and displays hard work in the classroom. “I feel very blessed to have won the award and it shows all my hard work. I am honored to have received the award.” said Branson Dossen. Sixteen student athletes from sixteen different schools receive the award. The athletes must be nominated by an administrator. Dossen was nominated by Heritage’s athletic director Mrs. Gilbert. Mrs. Gilbert said, “The reason we picked Branson was because he is ranked very high in the class and is an athlete that displays good characteristics on and off the field. He is a good example for younger students.” Dossen has been a three sport athlete all four years of high school and is very deserving of the Sertoma Award.
