The girls and boys cross country teams both cruised to victories over Woodlan on Tuesday evening, Sept. 22. The ladies came away with a 15-45 victory, and the boys won 16-46.
Top finishers for the ladies were Rozylnn Everhart in 3rd place at 25:31, Rylee Jarrell in 4th place at 26:12, and Emily McKinnon in 5th place at 26:40. Said sophomore Kate Buuck, the girls “worked hard through the heat to keep up with Woodlan’s top runners.”
Coach Smith called the boys’ win “the most dominant performance our boys have ever had,” with Heritage runners finishing the 3.1 mile race in the top four spots. Devin Schmenk led the way, finishing in 20:10, followed by Jack Beauchot in 2nd at 20:30, Jacob Anderson in 3rd at 21:08, and Heath Selking in 4th at 21:12.
The teams run at IPFW on Saturday, Sept. 26, in a huge 60 team meet, and Coach Smith said they aim to finish in the top half of the competition in which teams compete against opposing schools of all sizes. With just two meets remaining, the teams are gearing up for the conference meet on Oct. 3 and the sectional on Oct. 10.
