The cross country teams entered the home stretch of their season with strong finishes at the 2015 ACAC meet at South Adams on Oct. 3. The season has shown continual signs of improvement for the program since being reborn at Heritage.
The boys team had their best finish in their four year history at the ACAC meet, scoring a 4th place finish. The team was led by 2nd Team All-ACAC Devin Schmenk, with a time of 17:35. The second finisher for Heritage was freshman Jack Beauchot with a time of 19:01. Rounding out the scoring group of five were Andy Kohrman, Jacob Anderson, and Robert Anderson.
The girls team also had a great meet. They finished 6th in the conference. They were led by Rozlynn Everhart’s 18th place finish, with a time of 22:54. Following Rozzy was Rylee Jarrell with a time of 22:58. This is the first time in the girls team’s four years in which two runners have finished under 23 minutes.
After the meet, Coach Smith said, “I am very proud of this group and their hard work. We will get ready for sectional and hope to advance a few individuals to regional.”
The sectional takes place on Saturday morning, Oct. 10, at Bellmont.
