The Cross Country team stormed into the Northfield Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 27, and left with awesome results, continuing a successful start to the 2016 campaign. This was the best finish for both the boys’ and girls’ teams at this meet in Heritage’s five years going there.
The boys team finished in 3rd place out of 12 teams, and the girls team was 4th out of 11 teams. Leading the boys’ charge was Devin Schmenk (3rd), Jack Beauchot, and Corey Foster. Leading the girls team was Lilly Biggins (12th), Rozlynn Everhart, and Rylee Jarrell.
This is the best start that the team has had in its five years since being reborn at Heritage. “I am so proud of the results of both teams. The work that they put in this summer is paying off,” said Coach Matthew Smith.
Up next, the runners travel on Tuesday, Aug. 30, for an away meet with New Haven and Blackhawk Christian.
