On Monday Sept. 12, and Tuesday Sept. 13, the Heritage volleyball varsity and JV teams played against Wayne and Southern Wells.
The varsity ladies handily defeated Wayne with scores of 25-6, 25-13, and 25-14. The JV also cruised to victories of 25-17 and 25-9. Maggie Castleman flexed her muscles with with 11 kills. Jessica Dodane led with 4 aces, while Monica Scott had 3 blocks, and Erica Renninger contributed 12 digs, along with Grace Castleman’s 19 assists.
The varsity squad was also dominant against Southern Wells in the Tuesday night matchup, winning 25-8, 25-11, and 25-15. The JV added in W’s with scores of 25-20 and 25-9. Statistical leaders for the varsity in the Southern Wells game were Maggie Castleman again with 11 kills, Grace Castleman with 7 aces and 28 assists, and Erica Renninger with 10 digs.
Senior Jessica Dodane said “Wayne and Southern Wells were games that were able to boost our confidence as a team going into a big conference game on Thursday.” Similarly, Erica Renninger also looked forward to Thursday evening, stating “These two games allowed our team to prepare to play South Adams, our main competitor for the ACAC title.”
On Thursday, Sept. 15, the team travels to South Adams for an ACAC battle at 7:00 p.m.
