The 2017 school year has officially begun and so have the fall sport seasons. The boys soccer team has started practicing and is looking to have a promising season. Coming off an ACAC championship last year, the boys are looking to ride that momentum into this season. With the loss of seven senior leaders, it will take time for the boys to mesh together as a team. With the help of senior leaders Michael Cenko, Nick Wyss, Jerome Lechleitner, Connor Simmons, Bobby Lomow, and Zay Ya the team should have no trouble finding their groove.
The Patriots also are returning their leading scorer, junior Zar Kan, from last season. Zar will play a pivotal role in this year’s success. Defense is where the Patriots may struggle in the early stages of the year. The entire defensive line from the previous season has graduated and left a big role to be filled.
The boys will play their first game this evening, Aug. 16, at Bellmont High School. Having been knocked out of the 2016 sectional by the Braves, the Patriots will enter this dogfight with a chip on their shoulders, ready to avenge the loss.
