The Heritage Lady Patriot soccer season is now underway. Five new Patriots ladies have joined the team, after the team lost five of their seniors from last year. Now it is up to them and the new captains, Laura Franz, Sara Strahm, and Maddie Johnson, to get the team back on track again and fill those holes.
With their first match against Leo on Aug.14, the team lost with a score of 0-6. In their second game, Mackenzie Bonar scored a goal against Central Noble High School, however, the team lost by a final score of 1-5. In their last game of the week, the team had a devastating lost with a score of 1-9 against Jay County.
The team made a strong comeback from the initial three losses, defeating Lakewood Park Christian School with a score of 5-2. Junior Mackenzie Bonar scored an impressive three goals, and sophomores Molly Gibson and Stephanie Frecker each scored one.
Talking about their season goal, assistant coach Howey said, “Our goal is to keep improving,to keep getting closer as a team, and to enjoy the season as much as possible.”
The team will be playing a game at Angola on Aug. 24 at 5:00 pm.
