Girls Varsity Golf · Girls Golf Dominates

After finishing the 2016 regular season with a record of 9-0 and earning third in conference, the 2017 girls golf team has striven to build on last year’s success. So far, the 2017 season has lived up to the hype. The girls have started out hot, winning each of their first seven matches.

The senior night match was ideal for the girls, with Heritage beating Wayne by 4 strokes. Senior Karlee Fackler seemed excited with her results. She exclaimed, “I won, with a 43!” Karlee’s personal best is a 41.

When asked about how the season has gone so far, Brittany May said, “Personally, I’ve improved a lot and brought my averages down and as a team, we’ve gotten a lot stronger.” It seems that each of the seniors agrees that the team is much improved compared to last year. Karlee confidently added, “We are undefeated and on the road to winning ACAC again.”

As for the rest of the season, the three seniors have each set goals to reach. Kate Buuck’s goals are team oriented. Her three goals are to win the ACAC round robin and tourney, along with the team placing well at sectionals. Brittany’s goals are much more personal, “My goals are to continue improving and to gain experience so one day I can go pro.” Karlee said, “My goals are to continue to improve and possibly advance to regionals.” It is clear that each of the seniors are pushing themselves to be the best golfer they can possibly be.

The next meet for the girls will be the ACAC round robin and it will begin on Sept. 9 at Celina Lynx.
